Arsenal and Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old Spanish midfielder Javi Guerra from Valencia next year.
According to a report by Caught Offside, Arsenal and Aston Villa are vying for the signature of Javi Guerra. The Spaniard has a release clause worth €100 million in his contract with Valencia, although Los Che might accept bids around €30 million or lower. Meanwhile, the Gunners have an advantage in the race to secure the youngster’s services next year.
Javi Guerra and his journey so far
Javi Guerra has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at the Mestalla. A native of Valencia, the Spanish midfielder spent his formative years in his hometown and has been with Los Che since July 2019.
The 21-year-old has come leaps and bounds at the Spanish club in the last half a decade, becoming a regular in the middle of the park for Los Che. Guerra has turned out over 50 times thus far for Valencia while chipping in with five goals and one assist.
Meanwhile, Javi Guerra’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. La Liga bigwigs like Real Madrid and Barcelona have shown interest in the Spaniard. However, a move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Arsenal and Aston Villa vying for his signature.

Arsenal’s interest in Javi Guerra is understandable. The Gunners want to bolster their midfield department next year as they look for long-term replacements for Thomas Partey and Jorginho. Both veteran midfielders are on the wrong side of 30 and in the final year of their contracts. So, Guerra has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal.
As for Aston Villa, the West Midlands club reinforced the midfield unit in the summer transfer window by signing Amadou Onana from Everton. However, Unai Emery wants another midfielder in his squad next year. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder has a release clause worth €100 million in his contract with Valencia, although he might be available for €30 million or less.
However, Arsenal will have the advantage in the race to secure Javi Guerra’s services, as the youngster prefers a move to the Emirates instead of Aston Villa. So, it will be interesting to see if a deal worth €30 million sees the light of day next year.
