Galatasaray could take their chances with an approach for Arsenal’s Jorginho after Casemiro snubbed their advances.
According to The Sun, Galatasaray could test Arsenal’s resolve on Jorginho over the next few days. The Turkish window is still open, as the team is still looking for a new midfielder to improve their side. The Italian has emerged as an option following Casemiro’s decision to snub their advances.
Galatasaray to target Jorginho
Galatasaray are looking to add more quality to their squad following the superb acquisition of Victor Osimhen from Napoli on loan. While the Turkish giants are paying a huge salary to the Nigerian striker, some may have assumed they are finished with their budget for the season; however, that does not appear to be the case.
Galatasaray were in talks with Manchester United for Casemiro over a loan deal in the last few days. The Brazilian’s performances came into scrutiny following the below-par display against Liverpool, while the arrival of Manuel Ugarte cast doubts on his starting position on Erik ten Hag’s side.
Casemiro has since decided to stay at Manchester United and snub Galatasaray’s advances over a move to Turkey. Hence, the champions are considering an alternative option, with Arsenal’s Jorginho emerging on their radar.
Galatasaray could approach Arsenal to find out whether the £110,000-a-week Arsenal veteran could be made available for a transfer. The Italian only signed a one-year extension with the Gunners, which could make him a low-cost acquisition if the north Londoners sanction a deal for his exit. However, as things stand, Mikel Arteta considers him key to his plans, which could lead to the midfielder staying put.
Arsenal unlikely to sanction Jorginho’s exit
Jorginho might not be a starter, but like last season, he could prove a handful during the season’s crunch period. As things stand, Arsenal are short in midfield in the short and mid-term as Declan Rice is suspended for the next game, while new signing Mikel Merino is sidelined until mid-October.
Jorhinho has also accepted his role as a fringe player under Arteta for the current term, as he brings plenty of experience to the group. Hence, the manager or the club are unlikely to sanction a sale of such an important player at this stage of the season, which will see Galatasaray return empty-handed in their pursuit.
