Liverpool keeping tabs on Adam Wharton

Liverpool are closely monitoring the Crystal Palace midfield sensation Adam Wharton ahead of a potential move.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Liverpool are interested in the services of Adam Wharton who has had an exceptional start to life in the English top flight. He has gone from strength to strength over the last 12 months and the Reds are now closely monitoring him ahead of a potential move next summer.

The young defensive midfielder came up the ranks at Blackburn. He was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022, In just 18 months, he managed to secure a move to Premier League outfit Crystal Palace in a deal worth £18 million which could go up to £22 million with add-ons.

He has featured in a total of 20 matches for the Eagles since joining them at the start of the year. Thanks to his incredible performances for Palace in the second half of last season, the 20-year-old has already made his England debut.

While Wharton prefers playing as a defensive midfielder, he can even feature in an attacking role if needed. With five years still left on his deal, the Eagles are in a comfortable position. But they still might not be able to hold onto the youngster given the amount of interest in his services.

Liverpool keen on signing Adam Wharton

Liverpool are one of the English giants who are keen on signing the youngster. The Reds are on the lookout for a new number six who can help them in the long run and Wharton could be the perfect fit for them.

The Merseyside club showcased a tentative interest in his services this summer but they didn’t make any concrete moves. It seems their interest was primarily with a view to sign him ahead of next season.

They feel he could be the right fit for the club and are now tracking the English midfielder’s progress. While the Reds are keen on adding him to their squad, they are not the only top club who are monitoring him as Manchester City are also in the mix.
