Newcastle United set to keep Kieran Trippier until January, winter exit possible

Kieran Trippier will continue at Newcastle United, with the English full-back’s future to be reassessed during the winter transfer window.

According to a report from Football Insider, Kieran Trippier is all set to stay at Newcastle United until January. Eddie Howe doesn’t want to lose out on the former English international as he can’t secure a replacement with the transfer window in England over.

While the 33-year-old full-back is all set to continue at the Tyneside club for another six months, his future will be re-evaluated during the winter transfer window as he is no longer an integral part of their plans.

Trippier joined the Magpies in the winter of 2022. The English full-back was a statement signing from the club following their takeover. He has been an important part of Howe’s first team setup since making the move to the club and has featured in 94 matches.

But, the veteran full-back who recently retired from international football seems to have gone down the pecking order at the Tyneside club in recent months. He has only made one substitute appearance for them in the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Tino Livramento has stepped up and taken over as the first-choice option at right-back for Howe’s team. While the 33-year-old still has close to two years left on his deal, his future has been uncertain for some time and he has reportedly asked to leave the club.

Trippier has been linked with a move to Everton. While the Merseyside club did hold talks regarding a potential loan deal, they failed to get it over the line.

Trippier is all set to stay at Newcastle until January

With the transfer window in England and Saudi Arabia now over, the former Atletico Madrid star seems all set to stay at the club despite attracting a significant amount of interest from Turkey where the window runs until 13th September.

Eddie Howe is keen on keeping the 33-year-old at the club as there is no opportunity for the Tyneside club to secure a replacement. The Magpies are all set to re-evaluate his future in January when the transfer window will re-open. They will be more receptive to offers for him and there is a high possibility that he could be on the move.
