Newcastle United make enquiry for Kevin Zenon

Newcastle United have knocked on the doors of Boca Juniors to enquire about the availability of Argentine sensation Kevin Zenon.

Newcastle United are always on the lookout for young players who can help them in the long run under the new ownership and according to a report from LT10, the Magpies have reignited their interest in the services of Kevin Zenon. They have made an enquiry about the Boca Juniors sensation ahead of a potential move in the winter.

Zenon started his career at Unión Santa Fe and came up the ranks at the Argentine club at some pace. He was promoted to their first team back in 2021 and after making a name for himself while playing for their senior side, he made the move to Boca Juniors at the start of the year in a deal worth $3.5 million.

The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength since making the move to the Argentine giants. He has featured in 32 matches for them and has contributed with four goals and seven assists. The Sante Fe graduate has attracted a lot of interest since the start of the year.

Newcastle United were linked with Zenon just a month after he made the move to Boca Juniors. While nothing concrete happened back then, the Magpies have retained their interest over the months. They were linked with him throughout the summer.

Newcastle retain interest in Kevin Zenon

While the transfer window in England is now over, the Tyneside club have retained their interest in his services and they have enquired about his availability. Zenon penned down a four-year deal when he made the move to Boca Juniors.

His contract with the runs until the end of 2028 but there is a $15 million release clause in his contract as per a report from Uno Santa Fe. But, President Juan Román Riquelme is aware of the amount of interest in his services and he is keen on increasing the clause in his contract to $20 million by offering him a new deal with improved terms.

The Magpies consider the 23-year-old to be a great prospect for the future and they are keen on having him in their ranks. His departure could result in significant profit for Unión Santa Fe who still hold 20% of the player’s rights. Meanwhile, Boca want him around until the end of the year and a deal could be quite possible in the winter transfer window.
