Flamengo keen on Anthony Martial

Flamengo have established contact with former Manchester United ace Anthony Martial following an injury to Pedro.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Flamengo are looking to reinforce their attack in the next few days and they have their eyes set on French forward Anthony Martial. The former Manchester United striker is considering his options and he has been contacted by the Brazilian outfit regarding a move to South America.

Martial made quite a name for himself while playing for AS Monaco. He made a big money move to the Manchester-based club back in 2015 as a teenager. The French international was expected to reach great heights at his new club. But, the move to Old Trafford didn’t really go according to plan for him.

He was never really a consistent performer for them and he struggled with injuries during his time at the English club. The 28-year-old had gone way down the pecking order in recent seasons and they decided against renewing his contract.

Martial has left the club following the expiry of his deal and he is on the lookout for an ideal destination to relaunch himself. He still has a few years left in him and if can stay fit, the French striker can surely be a great option up top for clubs in Europe.

Martial to join Brazilian club Flamengo?

While he was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as well as Como, nothing concrete has happened so far. The former United ace has now been approached by Brazilian outfit Flamengo. They want to reinforce their attack following an anterior cruciate ligament injury to Pedro.

Their 27-year-old star striker is all set to be out for the majority of the 2024/25 season. As a result, Flamengo wanted more options up top in attack and Martial could help their cause. They have contacted the former United number nine who is one of their top options to replace Pedro.

The French striker has quite a few options at his disposal. With him yet to make a decision on his future, Flamengo have approached him with hopes that they could convince him about a move to Brazil.
