Four Serie A clubs wanted to sign Jakub Kiwior this summer

Arsenal overlooked the interest from four Serie A clubs in Jakub Kiwior as the North London club did not want to sell the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Jakub Kiwior was popular in Serie A in the summer transfer window. Bologna and Inter Milan submitted bids to sign the Arsenal defender. In addition, Fiorentina and Napoli submitted enquiries for the 24-year-old. However, the North London club rejected the approaches and offers for him as they did not want to sell him in the summer transfer window.

Jakub Kiwior and his Arsenal anguish

Jakub Kiwior has been unable to stamp his authority since joining Arsenal from Spezia in January 2023. The move for the Polish centre-back came out of nowhere, although the North London club found an able backup for Gabriel Magalhaes by signing the versatile defender from the Serie A club.

The 24-year-old can play as a centre-back and a left-back, finding success as a full-back during his spell with Arsenal. Kiwior has turned out 38 times thus far for the Premier League outfit while chipping in with two goals and three assists. However, after managing only 2,092 minutes of game time for Arsenal in 18 months, he mulled over a summer departure.

In addition, the Pole’s stature might reduce further in the 2024/25 season after Riccardo Calafiori arrived from Bologna and Jurrien Timber regained fitness. Meanwhile, Jakub Kiwior’s stock in the market has remained high, even though he is a backup player for Arsenal. Several Serie A clubs have been keen on signing him.

Serie A clubs wanted Kiwior

Reports in the last two months linked Jakub Kiwior with Bologna, Inter Milan, Fiorentina, and Napoli. The latest update by Tutto Mercato Web has revealed that Bologna and Inter Milan presented their offers to sign the versatile 24-year-old from Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

In addition, Fiorentina and Napoli submitted enquiries to secure Jakub Kiwior’s services in the summer transfer window. Arsenal might have sold the Poland international for around €20 million.

However, the suggestion might be wide of the mark, considering Fabrizio Romano revealed in the final days of the summer transfer window that Arsenal decided against parting ways with him. So, a return to Serie A was never on the cards, with the Gunners uninterested in selling the 24-year-old Polish defender.
