Manchester United rejected late double bid from Real Betis for Antony and Christian Eriksen

Manchester United duo Antony and Christian Eriksen were linked with moves away from the club in recent months.

According to a report from Daily Mail, Manchester United received an offer from La Liga outfit Real Betis for Brazilian winger Antony and Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen on deadline day. However, the Red Devils decided to reject the offer and keep the players at the club.

Manchester United are already lacking in depth in the wide areas, and they cannot afford to weaken the squad any further. The Premier League heavyweights have already sanctioned the departure of Jadon Sancho this summer. So, they were under pressure to hold onto the Brazilian.

Antony has been quite underwhelming for Manchester United since the big-money move from Ajax. In an ideal situation, Manchester United might have sanctioned his departure for the right price. However, the Red Devils are lacking in depth in the squad, and they cannot afford to lose him, given the fact that they will be competing in multiple tournaments.

Real Betis also wanted Christian Eriksen

Manchester United received an offer from the La Liga club for Christian Eriksen as well. Real Betis were clearly looking to add more quality and technical ability in the final third, and they wanted to sign the Denmark international from Manchester United as well.

The Dane has fallen down the packing order at Old Trafford, and he is unlikely to be a regular starter for them. Sitting on the bench at this stage of his career is unlikely to be an appealing option for the player, and a move to La Liga would have been ideal.

However, Manchester United have turned down the offer, and it seems that they want to keep him at the club as a squad player. It remains to be seen whether Eriksen can force his way into the starting lineup in the coming months.

There is no doubt that he is a proven performer in the Premier League, and he could be an asset for Manchester United. The Red Devils need his quality and experience in the final third, especially during injuries and rotation.
