Giovani Lo Celso set to rejoin Real Betis, Tottenham secure Johnny Cardoso option

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed on a deal to sell Argentine international midfielder Giovani Lo Celso to La Liga club Real Betis.

According to an update from reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, La Liga outfit Real Betis have secured an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur, and they will pay a fee of around €5 million to sign Giovani Lo Celso. In addition to that, the North London club will receive a priority option to sign Johnny Cardoso in the future.

Lo Celso would be a superb addition

The 28 year-old midfielder has played for Real Betis in the past, and he will look to establish himself as a key player for them this season. Giovani Lo Celso was not a part of Tottenham’s plans this season, and he would have struggled for regular game time had he stayed at the north London club.

Giovani Lo Celso will be delighted to have secured a return to La Liga, and he will look to get his career back on track with regular football now. There is no doubt that he is a quality player and that he has physical and technical attributes to do well in Spanish football.

The South American midfielder knows the league and the club well, and he will be expected to hit the ground running. Real Betis have sanctioned the departure of Nabil Fekir, and they will need to replace the French international adequately.

Giovani Lo Celso is capable of slotting into multiple attacking roles and he will add goals and creativity to the side. The midfielder is very much at the peak of his powers and he will look to push for trophies with the Spanish club as well. The deal could look like a major bargain if the Copa America winner manages to settle in quickly and make an instant impact.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are well stocked in the attacking unit, and it will be interesting to see if they make any further additions before the transfer window closes. They could use a quality midfielder and a defender this summer. They have done well to improve their squad this summer and they will look to push for trophies in the coming months. Meanwhile, securing the option for Johnny Cardoso could be a masterstroke.
