Arsenal rival Manchester United in Sverre Nypan chase

Arsenal are ready to battle it out with Manchester United for the services of Norwegian midfield sensation Sverre Nypan.

According to a report from Fussballnews, Arsenal could cause problems for Manchester United in their pursuit of the services of Sverre Nypan. The Red Devils have been monitoring the teenage sensation for a long while but the Gunners are looking to rival them in the race to his signature.

Nypan has come up the ranks at Rosenborg and has been with their first team since the start of 2022. He already has 51 appearances for the Norwegian club and has managed to contribute towards 20 goals (10 goals, 10 assists).

In the 2023/24 campaign, the 17-year-old sensation has been involved in 24 games and he has five goals and nine assists to his name. While his contract with Rosenborg runs until the end of 2026, he is expected to be on the move to a bigger club after he turns 18 at the end of the year.

Multiple top clubs from across Europe have been keeping a close eye on the teenage sensation who has showcased a lot of promise in recent seasons. Apart from his abilities, his versatility has also caught the attention of interested clubs.

Manchester United monitoring Nypan

Manchester United have been linked with the teenager since the start of the year. The Red Devils have had their eyes on the Norwegian jewel for some time. But, recently they have not been actively pursuing the young talent.

They have explored the idea of signing him early or bringing him in on loan, as a permanent transfer can’t happen until he turns 18. However, with Erik ten Hag’s team taking a back seat in recent days, there could be an opportunity for another club to attempt a hijack.

Arsenal could challenge the Red Devils

Arsenal could get into the thick of things and challenge rivals United in the race for the 17-year-old’s signature. Having seen Martin Ödegaard develop into a special player, people at the North London club believe his countrymen could develop in a similar way.

They are using the Odegaard example to attract Nypan and are offering him promising opportunities for growth at the club. After the end of the transfer window, club chiefs are aiming to hold talks with Rosenborg as they want to sign the youngster at the start of next year.

While the Gunners are willing to go hard, United still have a massive advantage as the player is a big admirer of the club and it is a dream of his to play at the Old Trafford.
