Chelsea and Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg have reportedly sealed an agreement over a season-long loan deal for Djordje Petrovic.
According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Djordje Petrovic is the subject of interest from RC Strasbourg. The Ligue outfit and Chelsea have sealed an agreement over a season-long loan deal for the 24-year-old goalkeeper, who has become a peripheral figure after only one year at the West London club.
Djordje Petrovic and his Chelsea career so far
Djordje Petrovic was a dependable performer for Chelsea after arriving from the New England Revolutions in the 2023 summer transfer window. A native of Požarevac, he spent his formative years in Serbia and graduated from the youth division at FK Čukarički. However, the Serb rose in prominence during his spell in MLS.
The 24-year-old has turned out 31 times thus far for Chelsea while keeping seven clean sheets and conceding 44 goals. However, despite outperforming Robert Sanchez last season, Petrovic has become a peripheral figure for the West London club this summer after the arrival of Filip Jorgensen, with Sanchez now the first-choice goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, recent reports suggested that the Serbia international would be part of the squad clear-out at Chelsea in the summer transfer window. However, Petrovic has not had many clubs chasing his signature, while the Blues have been considering sending him to their sister club, RC Strasbourg.
Ligue 1 adventure beckons
Chelsea and RC Strasbourg have dealt over several players since BlueCo took over the Ligue 1 club last year. The Blue and Whites have already signed three players from Chelsea this summer, with Caleb Willey and Andrey Santos completing loan moves to Stade de la Meinau, while Diego Moreira has sealed a permanent transfer.
