According to a report by Foot Mercato, Mohamed Simakan is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are keen on signing a centre-back before the summer transfer window shuts down. Mohamed Simakan has been a solid performer since joining RB Leipzig from RC Strasbourg in July 2021. A native of Marseille, the Frenchman spent his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies at half a dozen clubs and graduating from the youth division at RC Strasbourg.
The 24-year-old has turned out 122 times thus far for RB Leipzig while chipping in with seven goals and 13 assists. While Simakan has not been the undisputed first-choice defender for the Bundesliga giants, his ability to reprise different roles in the backline has made him an asset for them.
