Juventus set to win Teun Koopmeiners race

Juventus are set to beat Arne Slot’s Liverpool in the race to sign Atalanta’s attacking midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

While we are in the final week of the summer transfer window, Liverpool are the only team in the Premier League who haven’t signed a player yet. They have failed to lure any of their targets to Anfield so far and according to a report from La Gazzetta Dello Sport via Paisley Gates, the Reds are poised to suffer defeat to Juventus in the race for Teun Koopmeiners.

The Merseyside club surely have a strong squad at their disposal but they were still expected to sign players who could help new boss Arne Slot. While the Reds have been trying hard to sign a few players, they haven’t succeeded yet.

Reinforcing the midfield seems to be one of their priorities for Liverpool but they haven’t been able to convince their targets. Martin Zubimendi was their top target as they looked for an upgrade in defensive midfield but he has decided to continue at Real Sociedad. Koopmeiners is another of their top targets but things don’t look promising any more in his case.

Juventus to win the race for Koopmeiners

The Dutch international who has been a consistent performer for Atalanta in recent seasons is all set to complete a move to Juventus. The Old Lady already had an agreement in place with the attacking sensation but Liverpool were looking to hijack the deal. However, it seems they will end up on the losing side.

The 26-year-old was on fire last season as he scored 15 goals and even bagged seven assists in his 51 outings. With three years still left on his deal, Atalanta would love to have him in their arsenal for years to come but the player has his heart set on moving to the Turin-based club.

Koopmeiners has been sidelined by La Dea since the start of the month. While he had already agreed on a long-term deal with the Old Lady, the Italian giants were not ready to meet the €60 million asking price. But, their stance seems to have changed in recent days as they have agreed to meet Atalanta’s demands.

Juventus have agreed to pay €55 million up front with another €5 million as performance-related add-ons. Liverpool are all set to lose out on another big target and with time running out they will have to figure out another way to reinforce their midfield.
