Eddie Nketiah is on the verge of joining Crystal Palace, with the South London club advancing talks to sign him in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Eddie Nketiah is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are keen on signing a striker before the summer transfer window shuts down. The Arsenal homegrown striker has thus emerged as a target, with the South London club securing an agreement on personal terms.
In addition, talks between Arsenal and Crystal Palace are advancing, with the North London club demanding around £30 million to part ways with him. In addition, Nketiah’s £100,000-a-week wages might not pose a problem, even though only three other players earn more than him at Selhurst Park.
Eddie Nketiah and his stuttering career
Eddie Nketiah has struggled to stamp his authority for Arsenal since breaking into the first-team squad a few years ago. The Englishman has had to bide his time, although he has turned out 168 times thus far for the North London club while chipping in with 38 goals and seven assists.
Things went from bad to worse for Nketiah last season as he barely featured for Arsenal in the second half of the 2023/24 season. The English striker is no longer in Mikel Arteta’s plans, with a summer exit on the cards. The 25-year-old was close to joining Nottingham Forest and Marseille at different stages before a move failed to materialise. His next destination might be Crystal Palace.
Move across London on the horizon?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Eddie Nketiah is understandable. The South London club might part ways with Odsonne Edouard before the summer transfer window shuts down. In addition, recent reports have linked Jean-Philippe Mateta with a move away from Crystal Palace.
So, Nketiah has emerged as a viable target for the South London outfit, with personal terms not an issue. So, Crystal Palace did not have a problem matching or improving his £100,000-a-week wages. In addition, talks between the Eagles and Arsenal are advancing regarding a late move for the 25-year-old Englishman.
Arsenal will demand around £30 million to part ways with the English striker this summer. It will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace will match Arsenal’s asking price for the £100,000-a-week striker or offer a lower fee.
