Manchester United are looking to strike a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the services of Manuel Ugarte by tomorrow.
According to a report from GiveMeSport, Manchester United are looking to close the signing of Manuel Ugarte by tomorrow. They have been working hard to strike a deal with PSG for a long while and are on the verge of making it happen.
Ugarte joined the French giants last summer after making a name for himself at Sporting CP. While he had a decent start to life in Paris, the Uruguayan midfielder slowly went down the pecking order in the second half of his debut season.
Luis Enrique doesn’t really count on the 23-year-old moving ahead and PSG have been open to negotiating his departure since the start of the summer. They have already signed an ideal replacement for Portuguese sensation Joao Neves.
Manchester United are the club that have been linked with Ugarte throughout the summer. While the talks reach a standstill at one point in time, the Red Devils haven’t given up on their pursuit. Despite having made significant additions to their squad in the ongoing window, United are looking to strengthen their midfield in the final days of the window.
United closing in on Ugarte’s services
Dan Ashworth has been tasked to ensure they end the window with another important addition and he has been trying to find a comprise with PSG for Ugarte. They want someone who can compete with Casemiro for a place in the starting XI and eventually replace him.
The former Sporting midfielder seems to be the perfect fit and he is also eager to make the move to Old Trafford. Ugarte has already informed his representatives and his current club that he wants to join the Red Devils this summer.
They are confident about securing his services and expect positive news by tomorrow as the final stages of the deal have dragged into the weekend. While the French club have handed United the opportunity to sign him on loan with a buy obligation, the Red Devils want to lower the asking price from £51 million to around £42 million.
After discussing the move in detail over the week, United are quite optimistic about getting it over the line as PSG have softened their stance after initially refusing to send him out on loan.
