Manchester United accept €25 million Napoli bid for Scott McTominay

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Scott McTominay has been linked with multiple clubs this summer, and he needs to leave Manchester United to play regularly. A report from Il Mattino, as relayed by Calcio Napoli 24 claims that Napoli are keen on signing the 27-year-old midfielder, and they have submitted an offer of around €25 million for him.

Manchester United have accepted the bid from the Serie A giants, and it remains to be seen whether all parties can finalise the move quickly. The midfielder has rejected other offers to join the Partenopei.

Napoli are one of the biggest clubs in Italy, and the opportunity to join them will be quite attractive for McTominay. He will add creativity, goals, drive and defensive cover to their midfield. The lower intensity of Italian football could bring out the best in him as well.

The 27-year-old has certainly shown his quality in English football during his cameos with Manchester United, and he is good enough to start regularly at a high level. Working under a world class manager like Antonio Conte will be quite attractive for the player as well.

The reported €25 million offer seems quite reasonable for a player of his quality, and he could even prove to be a bargain if he manages to adapt to Italian football quickly.

Manchester United need to replace McTominay

Manchester United were already lacking in depth in the central midfield unit, and it will be interesting to see if they can bring in the right reinforcements after selling the player. The Red Devils certainly have the funds to do so, and they should look to bring in a quality central midfielder and a defensive midfielder before the window closes.

The Scotland International will now look to get his career back on track with regular football. This is the fresh start he needed, and the opportunity to prove himself at a big club will be quite exciting for him. Napoli had a disappointing 2023/24 season by the standards, and they will bounce back strongly. Conte will look to guide them to a title, and he needs quality players at his disposal.
