Chelsea hoping to sell Romelu Lukaku soon

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is expected to leave the club permanently this summer.

He was on loan at Roma last season and he scored 21 goals in all competitions. The Belgian is not wanted at the Premier League club and Chelsea are looking to sell him and get his wages off their books. They are looking to raise some funds from his departure as well so that they can improve their attacking unit.

According to a report from HITC, they are hopeful of agreeing to his sale in the next few days, and it will be interesting to see if they can recoup a substantial amount of money from his departure. Chelsea need to bring a quality striker as well. Nicolas Jackson has not been able to live up to the expectations and they were overly dependent on Cole Palmer last season. The England international needs more support in the attack and signing another striker should be a priority.

Meanwhile, a report from Fichajes claims that the Belgian international striker is expected to sign a three-year contract with Napoli who are keen on securing his signature. The Italian outfit will offer him wages of around €6 million per season.

Romelu Lukaku will be attracted to joining Napoli

Lukaku will be attracted to the idea of joining the Italian club this summer. He has had extensive experience of playing in Italy and he has proven himself in the league time and again. Further more, he has worked under Antonio Conte in the past. The Italian manager has taken over at Napoli and he will look to guide them to major trophies. Lukaku and Conte helped Inter Milan win the title a few seasons ago and they will look to recreate that at Napoli, if the transfer goes through.

It will be interesting to see if the 31-year-old can secure the transfer in the remaining days of the window and get his career back on track. Sorting out his permanent future would allow him to focus on his football once again.
