West Ham United close in on agreement to sign Carlos Soler, Everton also keen

West Ham United are reportedly close to agreeing a deal worth €23 million to sign 27-year-old Spanish midfielder Carlos Soler from PSG, with Everton also interested in him.

According to a report by French outlet Le Parisien, Carlos Soler is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are keen on bolstering their midfield department before the summer transfer window shuts down. And they are on the verge of sealing the agreement over a deal worth €23 million, including add-ons, for the 27-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

Meanwhile, a separate report by Fichajes has revealed that the Spaniard is the subject of interest from Everton. However, the Merseyside outfit might be running out of time to beat West Ham United to Soler’s signature, considering the update by Le Parisien.

Carlos Soler and his PSG struggles

Carlos Soler has seen his progress stutter since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Valencia in September 2022. The 27-year-old was once among the best midfielder in La Liga, with his exploits for Los Che compelling several high-profile clubs to pursue his signature in recent years.

However, the move to PSG has not worked for him, as he has been a backup midfielder for the Ligue 1 champions. Soler has turned out 63 times thus far for Les Parisiens, managing only 2,807 minutes of game time while chipping in with eight goals and eight assists. However, the Spanish midfielder should leave PSG to resurrect his fortunes, with West Ham United and Everton vying for his signature.

What next?

West Ham United’s interest in Carlos Soler is understandable. The Hammers have been keen on signing a versatile midfielder in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding Lucas Paqueta due to a betting scandal. So, Soler has emerged as a viable target for West Ham, with the East London club close to securing an agreement over a deal worth €23 million.

As for Everton, the Toffees are eager to bolster their midfield department by signing a versatile midfielder in the final days of the summer transfer window. However, Goodison Park might not be as attractive a destination as the London Stadium due to Everton’s recent relegation battles.

Everton might not have enough time to turn Carlos Soler’s head and beat West Ham, considering personal terms are not an issue for the 27-year-old PSG midfielder. The Ligue 1 champions will likely sell the Spanish midfielder to West Ham for €23 million, including add-ons.
