Intermediaries have reportedly offered West Ham United the chance to sign 29-year-old Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling, a target for Crystal Palace.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Raheem Sterling is the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, intermediaries have offered West Ham United the chance to sign the out-of-favour Chelsea attacker. The 29-year-old does not have a future at the West London club, as he does not feature in Enzo Maresca’s plans for the 2024/25 season.
Raheem Sterling and his Chelsea troubles
Raheem Sterling has been a shell of his best performer since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in July 2022. The Englishman was once among the best players in the world but has seen his stock plummet, with his performance levels not being anywhere near the desired levels.
While the 29-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in some of his performances for Chelsea, he has a paltry record of 19 goals and 12 assists in 81 appearances thus far for the West London club. However, very few would have expected a summer departure for Sterling heading into the 2024/25 season.
The England international has played his final game for Chelsea, with Enzo Maresca recently revealing the player does not feature in his plans for the 2024/25 season. Sterling initially sought clarity on his future after Maresca excluded him from the matchday squad against Manchester City. However, he is desperately searching for his next destination, with Crystal Palace and West Ham United emerging as potential destinations.
Will Sterling remain in London?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Raheem Sterling is understandable. The Eagles have lost Michael Olise, who has joined Bayern Munich. While Ismaila Sarr has joined the South London club, they can do with more quality in the final third. So, Sterling is a viable target for Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, intermediaries have spoken to West Ham United regarding a summer move for the Chelsea outcast. The 29-year-old Englishman can complete the West Ham attack, forming a formidable trifecta with Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen behind the central striker.
Recent reports have claimed that the England international wants to remain in the Premier League when he leaves Chelsea. However, he is unlikely to play for a Champions League club, and it will be interesting to see where the out-of-favour Chelsea attacker lands in the coming days.
