Liverpool agree bumper contract with Giorgi Mamardashvili

Liverpool are close to securing the services of Giorgi Mamardashvili, having agreed to a lucrative contract with the Valencia goalkeeper.

Liverpool are the only team in the English top flight who are yet to sign a player this summer. But, according to a report from Super Deporte via Paisley Gates, the Reds seem to be closing in on their first signing as they have agreed on a bumper contract with Georgian shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili and are closing in on an agreement with Valencia.

Mamardashvili has had an exceptional rise at the Spanish club. He was one of the standout performers for them last season and managed to carry that form in Euro 2024. He managed to put himself on the radar of multiple top clubs and Liverpool are one of them.

While the Reds haven’t been able to sign their targets so far, they are closing in on a massive signing. The Merseyside club could secure the signing of one of the best young goalkeepers in the world. They already have Allison Becker in their squad and he is expected to carry on as their number one.

But, they want to prepare for the long run and feel the Georgian international could be the best possible replacement for Allison. As a result, they have been working on a potential deal to bring him to the club.

Liverpool agree bumper deal with Mamardashvili

The Reds have taken a massive step towards signing him as they have agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old goalkeeper. He currently earns less than €2 million net per season and Liverpool have offered triple his gross salary.

While they have agreed terms with the young shot-stopper, there is still a lot of work to be done for the transfer to be complete. The Reds were initially thinking of signing him and sending him out on loan to Bournemouth so he could continue his development and also experience the Premier League.

Liverpool ready to loan Mamardashvili  back to Valencia

But, since their demands haven’t been met, they decided to change things up and have offered the Spanish club the opportunity to keep their goalkeeper on a season-long loan. It has helped them lower the asking price to €35 million as a fixed fee and both clubs are on the verge of agreeing on a deal with only certain important variables missing.

While Liverpool are willing to triple his wages, his salary while on loan at Valencia hasn’t been decided yet. Liverpool want them to pay the majority of the wages and they wish to pay the fee of the transfer over a period of time. But, the Spanish club owner Peter Lim wants a large part of the fee upfront along with significant add-ons and a sell-on clause.
