Real Madrid wonderkid Nico Paz is reportedly on the verge of completing a move worth €6 million to newly promoted Serie A club Como.
According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Nico Paz has been the subject of interest from Como. The newly promoted Serie A club will sign the Real Madrid prodigy in a deal worth €6 million. In addition, the reigning La Liga champions have secured a 50 per cent future sell-on clause while retaining a buyback option for the 19-year-old.
The Nico Paz story
Nico Paz is one of the brightest young prospects to graduate from the youth division at Real Madrid. A native of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, he has spent his formative years thus far in Spain, passing through the academies at San Juan and CD Tenerife before joining Real Madrid in July 2016.
The 19-year-old rapidly rose through the ranks in La Fabrica before breaking into the first-team squad at Real Madrid last season. The young midfielder has turned out eight times thus far for Real Madrid’s senior side while chipping in with one goal.
However, the Argentina youth international does not have a clear path to regular first-team football with Real Madrid, considering the Merengues have a crowded midfield department. So, it behoves the highly-rated midfielder to part ways with Real Madrid and embark on a new adventure. That will come at the newly promoted Serie A club Como.
Serie A adventure beckons
Nico Paz was once closing in on joining newly promoted La Liga club CD Leganes. However, the teenage midfield sensation will move abroad after spending the past decade and more in Spain, with Como securing an agreement to sign him from Real Madrid.
The Serie A upstart will cough up around €6 million to seal the permanent deal for the Argentina youth international. In addition, Real Madrid will retain a 50 per cent sell-on clause and possess a buyback option for the 19-year-old midfielder.
The update by Fabrizio Romano does not mention the duration of Nico Paz’s contract at Como 1907. The Voltaics have been busy in the market since returning to Serie A after over two decades, with Raphael Varane their marquee summer signing. Other high-profile names might also join the Real Madrid legend apart from the 19-year-old midfielder.
