Fulham agree deal to sign Rayan Cherki, player doesn’t want move

Fulham have agreed terms with

According to a report from L’Équipe, Fulham have managed to reach an agreement with Lyon for the services of Rayan Cherki. The Cottagers have agreed to pay €15 million along with €5 million as bonuses to acquire his services. While they have the green light from the club, Cherki does not seem keen on joining them.

Cherki has been at Lyon since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at some pace and has been with their first team since the start of 2020. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder already has 141 appearances for their senior side and he has contributed towards 42 goals (17 goals, 25 assists).

Fulham have struck a deal with Lyon

With his contract running out in 12 months, his future has been up in the air for some time and Lyon have recently confirmed that they are looking to cash in on him. PSG were in talks to sign him but once the move to French giants fell off, Fulham took centre stage and have been trying to lure him to Craven Cottage.

They were in talks with Lyon, and their offer worth €15 million plus €5 million as add-ons has been accepted by the French club. But, the deal is far from done as the Cottagers are yet to hold talks with the French sensation who can play anywhere in attack.

Crystal Palace to battle Fulham for Cherki

According to a report from HITC, Fulham could face serious competition from Crystal Palace, who are on the lookout for a new left-footed winger following the departure of Michael Olise. Cherki has quite a lot of similar qualities, and Oliver Glasner’s team are keen on having him in their squad.

While the Eagles have not made an offer yet, they are very much in the picture as both Lyon and Palace are owned by American businessman John Textor which does open the door for them. Glasner’s team can surely provide the Cottagers with a lot of competition. But, their focus is on convincing Cherki about a move which doesn’t seem to be an easy task.

Cherki won’t join Fulham

As per Fabrice Hawkins, the 21-year-old French sensation will not be joining the English club. He has no interest in their plans and both Lyon and Fulham seem to have that information for the last 48 hours. The player is currently not holding talks with the West London club. As a result, it will be interesting to see where he ends up playing his football after the end of the window.
