Manchester United ready to sell Christian Eriksen for £5 million

Manchester United are keen on selling Christian Eriksen for £5 million and want to free up his massive wages off their books.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United are keen to offload Christian Eriksen before the transfer deadline. The Danish midfielder is one of the high-earners at the club, with INEOS eager to trim their wage bill and make room in their books, as they place a £5 million asking price on one of Erik ten Hag’s first signings at the club.

Christian Eriksen for sale?

Manchester United are active in the transfer market, and in light of the need for more players, INEOS is now prioritising sales before they can spend more on incomings. In any case, they will be looking to offload some unwanted stars, including Christian Eriksen.

Christian Eriksen was one of Erik ten Hag’s first signings after becoming the Manchester United manager. The Dane is on a high salary, and that is something INEOS would like to offload off their books. They had been anticipating bids for the 32-year-old midfielder in light of their decision to sell him.

Manchester United have placed a £5 million asking price on the Dane, hoping to find a solution. There is considerable interest, notably from Anderlecht and Ajax, although his former side are not in a strong position financially to make an offer at this stage.

Eriksen did not play in the Community Shield or the opening win over Fulham, which indicates he might not feature in the club’s plans. Eriksen still has a year left on his deal, and asking for £5 million seems reasonable for the midfielder, who has shown he can perform at the highest levels.

Manchester United keen to free up funds

Manchester United are eager to stabilise their wage bill and bring in money through sales of fringe stars. The Red Devils have done reasonably done to strengthen their side, with Manuel Ugarte their next target in this window, as the Uruguayan’s arrival could spell the end for Eriksen.

They could still bring in a few players in different positions, but the midfield is their priority. Selling Eriksen would let them make room in the squad and free up the Danish midfielder’s wages off their books, allowing them to save more money than their £5 million asking price.
