Hansi Flick urges Barcelona to sign Marcus Rashford

Hansi Flick is reportedly pushing Barcelona to sign 26-year-old English international Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this summer.

According to an update by Albert Fernandez of GOL PLAY, Marcus Rashford is the subject of interest from Barcelona. Hansi Flick is driving the Catalan club’s prospective move for the Manchester United attacker. The German tactician wants the Blaugrana to sign a left-sided forward, with the 26-year-old emerging as a target for the final days of the summer transfer window.

Marcus Rashford and his Manchester United career so far

Marcus Rashford has blown hot and cold since breaking into the first-team squad at Manchester United nearly a decade ago. The Englishman was one of the most highly-rated young offensive prospects in the world when he made his first-team bow for the Premier League outfit midway through the 2015/16 season.

The 26-year-old has been world-class in his best campaigns with Manchester United but has also been a shell of his best when he has not been at the races for the club. Rashford has turned out over 400 times thus far for Manchester United while amassing 131 goals and 67 assists.

The England international endured a horrific 2023/24 season, as he failed to make his mark throughout the term. Rashford has shown some positive signs in the early days of the 2024/25 campaign but has yet to break his duck. Meanwhile, he faces an uncertain future at Manchester United, with several well-known clubs, including Barcelona, setting their sights on him.

Barcelona interested

The Catalan giants hold a long-standing interest in Marcus Rashford. The links have grown this week, with Hansi Flick urging Barcelona to bring the 26-year-old Manchester United attacking mainstay to the club. The German tactician wants a left-sided attacker for his frontline this term.

Rashford has thus emerged as a viable target for Barcelona. With the move for Nico Williams not seeing the light of day and new target Rafael Leao being too expensive, the Manchester United academy graduate might be an option worth considering, although he will not come cheap either.

Meanwhile, it is unclear if Manchester United are ready to entertain any offers for Rashford in the final days of the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can turn the 26-year-old Englishman’s head with an approach.
