La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly preparing the offers to sign 26-year-old Italian international Federico Chiesa from Juventus this summer.
According to reputed Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale, Federico Chiesa is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are keen on signing a wide attacker before the summer transfer window shuts down. They have prepared a bid worth €10 million to sign the Italian international, who will receive a contract worth €6 million per year from the Blaugrana.
A report by SPORT corroborates Mirko Di Natale’s claims, suggesting the Catalan giants are accelerating their efforts to sign Chiesa from Juventus. In addition, the update has revealed that Chelsea and Manchester United are considering launching the offensive to secure the services of the out-of-favour attacker.
Federico Chiesa and his woes
Federico Chiesa has seen his stock plummet since returning from a long-term injury layoff. The 26-year-old once had the world at his feet after being instrumental in Italy’s triumphant UEFA Euro 2024 campaign. However, he has not been at his best in the last 18 months.
The Italian international managed only ten goals and three assists in 37 outings across all competitions in the 2023/24 season. Chiesa was also sub-par as Italy crashed out of UEFA Euro 2024 in the round of 16. In addition, he does not feature in Thiago Motta’s plans for the 2024/25 season. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, alerting top clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Barcelona.
A man in demand
Chelsea and Manchester United have been keen on signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. However, Chelsea might no longer be interested, with Joao Felix on the verge of arriving from Atletico Madrid. As for Manchester United, Chiesa can be a long-term right-wing solution for the Red Devils despite his recent struggles.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s interest in Federico Chiesa is understandable. The 26-year-old has emerged as a low-cost alternative to Nico Williams, with the Spanish international likely to remain at Athletic Club beyond the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants are now preparing a bid worth €10 million to sign the Juventus outcast.
In addition, Barcelona will offer Chiesa €6 million-a-year wages to tempt him to complete a move to the Catalan club. So, it will be interesting to see if Barcelona’s offers do the trick and beat Chelsea and Manchester United to his signature.
