Manchester United are in talks to sell Facundo Pellistri this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Panathinaikos are in talks with the Premier League giants to sign the Uruguayan winger.
The 22-year-old has struggled for regular game time at Old Trafford and he needs to leave in order to play more often. A permanent exit from Manchester United would be ideal for him. The Red Devils will not be able to provide him with regular game time.
Pellistri was highly rated around Europe when he joined the Red Devils, but he has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot at Old Trafford. He needs to move on in order to get his career back on track and joining the Greek outfit could prove to be a wise decision. It will be interesting to see if the clubs can sort out an agreement in the remaining days of the transfer window.
The winger has had loan spells at Spanish clubs like Alaves and Granada in recent seasons. He has shown his quality in bits and parts, and it will be interesting to see if he can establish himself as a key player for Panathinaikos.
Pellistri would be a superb addition
There is no doubt that the 22-year-old has the technical attributes to do well for Panathinaikos and he could be a key player for them in the long term. If they can agree on a reasonable deal with Manchester United, the transfer would look like a bargain in the long term.
The South American winger has the potential to develop into a top class attacker with the right guidance. Regular first team football could accelerate development and help him fulfil his tremendous potential.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United end up regretting their decision to let the player leave. They are in need of attacking reinforcements, especially in the wide areas. Players like Jadon Sancho and Antony have been largely underwhelming since joining the club and it remains to be seen whether they can bring in quality alternatives.
