Crystal Palace could be interested in signing Jakub Kiwior with Juventus also competing for the Arsenal defender in this window.
According to TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace and Juventus might have to fight it out for Jakub Kiwior. Arsenal are willing to sell the 24-year-old utility man after the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori, and each of those suitors is looking for a new defender to bolster their respective squads.
Crystal Palace Juventus vying for Jakub Kiwior
Arsenal signed Riccardo Calafiori earlier in the window, which did leave doubts about the futures of Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko. The latter does not have a great market, although the Polish star has indeed attracted plenty of suitors, particularly from Italy.
Juventus held a strong interest in Calafiori. But going by the defender’s comments after his move to Arsenal, it appears he only wanted to join Mikel Arteta’s side. The Bianconeri, led by former Bologna manager Thiago Motta, are still looking for a new defender, as the report suggests the Gunners could even opt to send Kiwior on loan with a buy option that would suit the Italian giants.
Crystal Palace are also keen on the 24-year-old utility man now, as they face uncertainty over Marc Guehi’s immediate future. The Eagles have so far rejected four bids from Newcastle United, with talks between the clubs continuing in the background. The English defender is expected to depart should the Magpies pay up what’s required for his signature.
Crystal Palace could target Kiwior as an alternative to replace Guehi, although Maxence Lacroix remains their priority target. Any move for Arsenal’s Polish defender will depend on the asking price, as Arteta’s side will want to recoup the money they paid Spezia 18 months ago while making a decent profit on their investment.
Kiwior may prefer Italy return
As per Fabrizio Romano, Kiwior’s exit from Arsenal is a big possibility, and he might prefer to move back to Italy. As his absence from the matchday squad to face Wolves hinted at a possible transfer, any move back to Serie A will depend on the finances involved as well as the level of interest, with Juventus supposedly considering. There were also rumours about Inter Milan’s interest, but nothing is clear as of now.
He might find the style of play in Serie A rather comfortable to his liking, although he has been a good performer in the Premier League in his short spell with Arsenal. Crystal Palace are also an excellent option for him should he feel settled in London. Either way, the Gunners are expected to offload him, either on loan or on a permanent basis, for the right price.
