Fiorentina eyeing Victor Lindelof swoop

Serie A club Fiorentina will reportedly look to sign seven-season Manchester United veteran Victor Lindelof this summer.

According to a report by reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Victor Lindelof is the subject of interest from Fiorentina. The Serie A outfit will look to sign the Manchester United defender in the summer transfer window, with the Premier League heavyweights ready to part ways with the seven-season veteran.

Victor Lindelof and his Manchester United journey so far

Victor Lindelof has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester United from SL Benfica in July 2017. The Premier League outfit beat stiff competition from several other high-profile clubs to land the Swede. Since then, he has been in and out of the starting lineup at Old Trafford.

Despite being a seven-season veteran for Manchester United, the 30-year-old has not been the undisputed first-choice centre-back for a few years. Lindelof has turned out over 300 times thus far for Manchester United while chipping in with four goals and seven assists. Interestingly, he has never received a red card in his spell with the Red Devils.

However, the Swedish international, who has made 68 appearances for his national team, faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after entering the final 12 months of his contract with Manchester United. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe, including Fiorentina.

Serie A adventure on the cards?

Fiorentina’s interest in Victor Lindelof is understandable. The Serie A outfit will look to bolster the backline before the summer transfer window shuts down. While Raffaele Palladino has several centre-backs in his squad, he wants to add another central defender in the coming days.

So, Lindelof has emerged as a viable target for Fiorentina. The report has suggested that the Violets are working to understand the conditions of a possible deal. With the 68-cap Swedish international taking home €3 million-a-year wages with his Manchester United contract, he might be an affordable target for the Serie A outfit.

However, the seven-season Manchester United veteran is also a target for several other clubs, including Eintracht Frankfurt and Fenerbahce. With the Premier League heavyweights ready to part ways with Lindelof, the 30-year-old will likely embark on a new adventure.
