Eintracht Frankfurt keeping tabs on Victor Lindelof

Eintracht Frankfurt have turned their attention towards Victor Lindelof, who might leave Manchester United after the club’s transfer activities.

According to Frankfurter Rundschau, Victor Lindelof has emerged as a target for Eintracht Frankfurt as they seek a new defender for the new season. The 30-year-old could be allowed to leave Old Trafford after recent defensive reinforcement arrived during the current transfer window.

Victor Lindelof on Eintracht frankfurt radar

Manchester United could be ready to make sales to offset the massive money spent on new arrivals in this window. They are willing to sell a few stars for the right price, including Victor Lindelof. The Swedish defender was not considered a first choice for Erik ten Hag but ended up playing many games last season owing to an injury crisis at the back.

The club activated an extension in the 30-year-old defender’s contract back in January merely to retain his current value rather than lose him on a free transfer. They had hoped to attract considerable interest in the defender, but in truth, there have only been mild enquiries.

Eintracht Frankfurt are in the mix for Lindelof as things stand, as they are stepping up their efforts to sign a new central defender. The sale of Willian Pacho to PSG has opened up a need for a new centre-back, and while they wanted Konstantinos Koulierakis, he has since rejected an approach.

Hence, Lindelof is considered a new option because of his experience and ability to play at the top level. Frankfurt tends to play a back-three, which could allow the 30-year-old to slot in with ease. Now, everything depends on Manchester United’s asking price, with the Germans looking to conclude a lower-cost deal in the coming days for the Swede.

Manchester United will sell Lindelof

Manchester United have addressed their needs in the transfer market by bringing in quality centre-backs. They recently signed Matthijs de Ligt while bringing in Leny Yoro earlier in the summer. The latter has since suffered a severe foot injury, but the former could soon make his full debut.

The Red Devils are in a strong position with their depth at the back, and if Erik ten Hag feels he has enough bodies there, the club might also consider a sale of Harry Maguire. Hence, Eintracht Frankfurt might have a chance to sign the Swedish international in this window, while they might have an opportunity to negotiate the price down.
