AS Roma will reportedly look to sign Tottenham outcast Giovani Lo Celso as a replacement for Paulo Dybala, with Aston Villa also interested in the 28-year-old playmaker.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Giovani Lo Celso is the subject of interest from AS Roma. The Serie A giants are scouring the market for a long-term replacement for Paulo Dybala ahead of his departure to the Saudi Pro League. The Tottenham outcast has thus emerged as a target for the Giallorossi.
Meanwhile, an update from El Chiringuito TV has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will demand around €15 million to part ways with the 28-year-old playmaker in the summer transfer window. The out-of-favour midfielder is also a target for fellow Premier League club Aston Villa.
Giovani Lo Celso and his Tottenham troubles
Giovani Lo Celso has blown hot and cold since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Real Betis. The North London club initially signed him on a loan deal in August 2019 before completing a permanent move a year later. However, while he was top-notch for Tottenham in his first two seasons at the club, his stock gradually fell.
Lo Celso resurrected his fortunes to some extent during a loan spell at Villarreal, spending 18 fruitful months at Estadio de la Ceramica. However, after a dreadful 2023/24 campaign with Tottenham, the Argentine international wants to end his nightmare at the club. He does not have a shortage of clubs pursuing his signature, with Aston Villa and AS Roma among his prospective suitors.

Aston Villa’s interest in Giovani Lo Celso is understandable. The West Midlands club chose not to complete a permanent move for Nicolo Zaniolo after the Italian international failed to make his mark last summer. Joao Felix is a top target for Aston Villa, but he might rejoin Chelsea. So, Lo Celso is a viable target for the Villans, with the Tottenham outcast open to joining them.
However, Aston Villa will face stiff competition from AS Roma, with the Giallorossi eyeing him as a long-term replacement for Paulo Dybala. The Argentine international is on the verge of joining Saudi Pro League upstart Al-Qadsiah, and his compatriot might take his place in the AS Roma attack.
