Serie A giants Napoli are keen on signing Scott McTominay, with the 27-year-old Manchester United midfielder prioritising a move to the Diego Maradona Stadium.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Scott McTominay is the subject of interest from Napoli. The Serie A club’s director, Giovanni Manna, has travelled to England to discuss moves for several players, with the 27-year-old Manchester United homegrown midfielder, valued at £30 million by the Premier League outfit, one of his targets.
Meanwhile, a separate update by reputed Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has revealed that the Scottish international is prioritising joining the Serie A club in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have also linked him with several Premier League outfits.
Scott McTominay and his career so far
Scott McTominay has been a polarising figure since breaking into the first-team squad at Manchester United several years ago. Jose Mourinho went against his nature to hand the Scot his senior bow. The homegrown player has not looked back since then and has been a regular for the Premier League heavyweights.
The 27-year-old has turned out over 250 times thus far for Manchester United while chipping in with 29 goals and eight assists. McTominay has reprised almost every role in the middle of the park for the Red Devils and was a productive midfielder in the 2023/24 season. However, he faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after entering the final year of his contract. Such a situation has piqued the attention of several clubs, including Napoli.
Serie A bound?
Napoli’s interest in Scott McTominay is understandable. The Serie A giants have been keen on bolstering their midfield unit in the summer transfer window after losing Piotr Zielinski. While they are closing in on signing Billy Gilmour from Brighton & Hove Albion, they also want to land McTominay.
However, Manchester United’s asking price to part ways with McTominay might be prohibitive for Napoli, as the Red Devils want around £30 million to sell the 27-year-old midfielder. Nevertheless, Giovanni Manna has travelled to England to discuss a move for the Scotsman.
In addition, McTominay is keen on joining Napoli and has identified the Serie A club as his priority destination. So, it will be interesting to see if a deal worth £30 million takes him to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in the coming days.
