Manchester United reportedly hope to seal a deal worth £42 million to sign 23-year-old Uruguayan international Manuel Ugarte from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
According to a report by Give Me Sport, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The two clubs remain far apart on their valuations of the 23-year-old midfielder. However, the Red Devils hope to seal a deal worth £42 million to land the youngster before the summer transfer window shuts down.
Manuel Ugarte and his PSG woes
Manuel Ugarte would have hoped to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 after joining Paris Saint-Germain from Sporting CP last summer. However, while he began his stint with Les Parisiens on a high, his stock gradually dropped as the 2023/24 season wore on.
The 23-year-old has turned out 37 times thus far for PSG while managing less than 2,500 minutes of game time. While Ugarte won the 2023/24 Ligue 1 title with the French giants, he wants to embark on a new adventure in the summer transfer window as he looks to resurrect his stuttering career.
Reports throughout the summer transfer window have linked the Uruguayan international with several high-profile clubs across Europe. However, Manuel Ugarte’s heart is set on joining Manchester United, with the two parties already sealing an agreement on personal terms. However, the transfer fee is a stumbling block for the Premier League heavyweights.
Manchester United want Ugarte
Manchester United’s interest in Manuel Ugarte is understandable. The Red Devils have been keen on bolstering their midfield unit in the summer transfer window after Casemiro blew hot and cold last season. So, the PSG midfielder has emerged as a viable target, although the Ligue 1 giants are playing spoilsport on the transfer fee.
Jorge Mendes has reportedly travelled to England to hash out a deal for Ugarte. Meanwhile, Manchester United hope to secure the services of the 23-year-old midfielder in a move worth around £42 million.
It is unclear if PSG will accept a cut-price transfer fee to part ways with Ugarte after spending heavily to secure his services last summer. However, with a solution nowhere in sight, Manchester United will hope to complete the objective of a deal worth £42 million.
