Liverpool open to loaning out Stefan Bajcetic

Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are willing to sanction a loan move for 19-year-old Spanish midfielder Stefan Bajcetic before the summer transfer window closes.

According to a report by The Athletic, Stefan Bajcetic might embark on a temporary adventure away from Liverpool before the summer transfer window shuts down. The Reds are open to sanctioning a loan deal for the 19-year-old highly-rated midfielder, although the identity of his prospective suitors remains unknown.

Stefan Bajcetic and his Liverpool journey so far

Stefan Bajcetic has established himself as one of the best young prospects in the Premier League since joining Liverpool from Celta Vigo in January 2021. A native of Vigo, the Spaniard spent most of his formative years in his hometown, joining Celta Vigo in 2013 before moving to England.

The 19-year-old has gone from strength to strength since joining Liverpool three years ago and broke into the first-team squad as a 17-year-old in August 2022. Since then, Bajcetic has made considerable progress, even though a long-term injury threatened to curtain his growth.

The Spanish youth international has turned out 22 times thus far for the Liverpool first team while chipping in with one goal. However, Stefan Bajcetic’s short-term future might be away from Anfield, with the Merseyside club ready to sanction a temporary departure before the summer transfer window shuts down.

What next?

Liverpool’s willingness to loan out Stefan Bajcetic is somewhat surprising. While well-known clubs like Sevilla have shown interest in the teenage sensation and can offer him regular game time, he can potentially secure that at Anfield if the Reds fail to sign a holding midfielder. They have already faced rejection from Martin Zubimendi, who has decided to stay at Real Sociedad.

With Zubimendi not leaving Real Sociedad, Liverpool might not have enough time to identify an alternative and secure his services in time before the summer transfer window shuts down. So, keeping Bajcetic at Anfield might not be a bad idea.

However, if the 19-year-old Spanish youth international becomes an undisputed first-choice midfielder elsewhere, he can serve Liverpool better in the long run. So, it will be interesting to see if a temporary summer move away from Liverpool sees the light of day.
