Everton fail with opening bid to sign Vitor Roque

Barcelona quickly rejected an opening bid of €25 million plus €3 million from Everton, with the Blaugrana demanding around €30-35 million to sell Vitor Roque.

According to an update by reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Vitor Roque is the subject of interest from Everton. The Brazilian international is disgruntled at FC Barcelona after failing to establish a foothold in the first-team squad. The Toffees have submitted a bid worth €25 million plus €3 million, with the Blaugrana rejecting the offer as they want around €30-35 million to sell him.

Vitor Roque and his growing frustrations at FC Barcelona

Vitor Roque has cut a disgruntled figure since joining Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense last season. The Blaugrana fought tooth and nail to raise the funds to sign the teenage sensation and beat fierce competition for his signature. Meanwhile, the youngster rejected all offers to complete a dream move to Barcelona.

However, the dream quickly became a nightmare for the 19-year-old, who barely featured for Barcelona in the second half of the 2023/24 season after arriving in January. The young striker managed only 353 minutes of game time across 16 appearances in all competitions while scoring two goals.

So, it is hardly surprising that Vitor Roque’s long-term future at the Catalan club is uncertain heading into the final days of the summer transfer window. The Brazilian attacker’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, particularly from the Premier League. The latest update has linked him with Everton.

Can Everton sign the Barcelona striker?

Everton’s interest in Vitor Roque is understandable. The Toffees have been keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window despite landing Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille. However, with Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin facing uncertain futures at Goodison Park, Everton must sign a striker.

So, several attackers, including Largie Ramazani, have emerged on Everton’s radar. However, Vitor Roque’s name also features on the Merseyside club’s radar. Florian Plettenberg has claimed that the Toffees have submitted an opening bid with a base fee of €25 million with €3 million add-ons. However, Barcelona immediately rejected the proposal.

The Catalan giants want around €30-35 million to part ways with the disgruntled 19-year-old Brazilian striker in the summer transfer window. Vitor Roque’s agent has already threatened to permanently walk away from Barcelona. So, with Everton continuing the talks with Deco, a summer move to Goodison Park might be on the cards for the youngster.
