Newcastle United set to submit improved offer for Marc Guehi

Newcastle United are all set to table a third bid for the services of Crystal Palace defensive mainstay Marc Guehi.

Newcastle United are looking to reinforce their backline before the end of the ongoing transfer window. They recently submitted their second offer for the services of Crystal Palace sensation Marc Guehi. But, their offer was rejected as it was more than £15 million sort of the asking price.

The Magpies haven’t given up on their pursuit just yet and according to a report from the Daily Mail, Eddie Howe’s team are all set to return with an improved offer for the services of Guehi. They are ready to table a third bid for the 24-year-old English international.

While things didn’t work out for him at Chelsea, the move to the Eagles in the summer of 2021 gave him a chance to establish himself in the Premier League. He has gone from strength to strength with every passing season.

Newcastle want to sign Marc Guehi

On the back of his consistent performances, he was called up by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024 and ended up being one of the best players for England at the tournament. His performances have put him on the radar of Newcastle who seek defensive reinforcement heading into the final weeks of the window.

Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman are both out injured and Howe wants to bring in a new centre-back to ensure he has enough quality at the back. The 24-year-old could prove to be a great addition to their squad as he will increase the competition for a place in the starting XI.

Newcastle to return with a third offer

The Mapges have made him their top target for the summer and are going all out for his services. After their initial offer was turned down, they returned with an improved bid of just under £50 million. But, even that didn’t work out as the Eagles want £65 million for their defensive mainstay.

Newcastle’s sporting director Paul Mitchell who is handling the negotiation from their end is all set to table an improved offer in the coming days in hopes of signing their number one summer target. It will be intriguing to see how close their third offer comes to meeting the asking price. It could prove pivotal in their chances of securing his services.
