Newcastle United ready to offer €20 million to sign Federico Chiesa

Newcastle United are reportedly ready to offer €20 million to sign 26-year-old Italian international Federico Chiesa while offering the Juventus winger €7 million-a-year wages.

According to a report by Tutto Juve, Federico Chiesa is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Italian international does not have a long-term future at Juventus as he is not in Thiago Motta’s plans for the 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, the Magpies are ready to offer €20 million to sign him while proposing him €7 million-a-year wages.

Federico Chiesa and his plummeting stock

Federico Chiesa has seen his stock plummet since returning from a long-term knee injury several months ago. The former Fiorentina attacker was on cloud nine ahead of the 2021/22 season following his exceptional campaign at UEFA Euro 2020 and his excellent debut season with Juventus.

However, Chiesa’s star has fallen since completing a permanent move to Juventus, with his fitness issue playing a part in his plummeting levels. The 26-year-old has turned out 131 times thus far for the Bianconeri while chipping in with 32 goals and 23 assists. However, the player might have played his final game for the Serie A outfit.

The Italian international does not feature in Thiago Motta’s plans for Juventus heading into the 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, particularly from the Premier League. Newcastle United will look to beat the competition to his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Newcastle United’s interest in Federico Chiesa is understandable. The Magpies are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the final weeks of the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term future of Miguel Almiron.

With Newcastle United ready to part ways with Almiron, they must sign a replacement. Chiesa has thus emerged as a viable target for the Tyneside outfit, with the latest report revealing they are ready to cough up €20 million to sign the Italian international from Juventus. In addition, the Magpies are willing to offer him a contract with €7 million-a-year wages.

However, it is unclear if €7 million-a-year wages or an offer of a transfer fee worth €20 million does the trick. In addition, recent reports have claimed that the 26-year-old wants to join a club that can allow him to play in the UEFA Champions League. So, a summer move might not see the light of day.
