Everton inch closer to signing William Tamen

Everton are getting closer to reaching an agreement with Burton Albion in the coming days regarding teenage defender William Tamen.

According to The Athletic, Everton are inching closer to an agreement with Burton Albion for William Tamen. The 18-year-old whizkid has been on the Toffees’ radar for quite a while, as they view his signature as vital for their developmental side.

Everton close in on William Tamen

William Tamen is not a name many would have heard of, and rightly so, as the defender has been quietly impressing in the lower leagues. He has even gone way lower in terms of competition to find a rhythm and learn about the game, and then he made his senior debut last season for Burton Albion.

The 18-year-old whizkid is considered a big talent in the Premier League circle, and Everton are closely watching him. In fact, they are inching closer to finding an agreement with League One side Burton Albion for the teenage defender, as they wish to integrate him very closely into their senior setup.

Everton have garnered a reputation over the years for producing top defenders, and under Sean Dyche, there is a big chance some emerging stars could get chances to shine. They will all look at the development of defender Jarrad Branthwaite and find enough reasons to want to develop their talents there.

Tamen has plenty of ingredients to become a future star for Everton. He could even have a good enough path to their first team very soon. Much will depend on Everton and how soon they can find an agreement with Burton Albion, as a move seems on the cards.

Everton’s summer plans

Everton have made some crucial sales to balance their act with PSR obligations, including departures of the likes of Amadou Onana. They have made some key additions to their squad while they are still searching for the right name to replace the Belgian, as Kalvin Phillips remains linked.

Meanwhile, they are also keen to keep Jarrad Branthwaite this season despite Manchester United’s best efforts to lure the young defender. The Red Devils seem to have moved on from the centre-back, as some of their recent signings indicate.
