Premier League club Bournemouth will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to replace Dominic Solanke, who has joined Tottenham this summer.
According to a report by the London Evening Standard, Eddie Nketiah is the subject of interest from Bournemouth. The Cherries have lost Dominic Solanke, who has joined Tottenham Hotspur in a big-money deal. They will now look to sign the 25-year-old wantaway striker from fellow Premier League club Arsenal before the summer transfer window shuts down.
How has Eddie Nketiah fared at Arsenal?
Eddie Nketiah has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Arsenal from Chelsea. The Englishman has been with the North London club since 2015 and has made considerable progress at the Emirates in the last few seasons.
However, Nketiah has failed to nail down the first-choice striker berth at the Emirates, having hardly received the opportunity to secure the spot at Arsenal. The 25-year-old has turned out 168 times thus far for the Premier League outfit while chipping in with 38 goals and seven assists.
The England international has become increasingly disgruntled at Arsenal after barely securing any starts in the second half of the 2023/24 season. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Marseille. However, Eddie Nketiah’s next destination might be within the Premier League, with Bournemouth showing interest in him.
Move within the Premier League on the cards?
Bournemouth’s interest in Eddie Nketiah is understandable. The Cherries have lost star striker Dominic Solanke in the summer transfer window, with the English attacker joining Tottenham Hotspur in a big-money deal. So, it behoves Bournemouth to sign a striker before the summer transfer window shuts down.
Nketiah has thus emerged as a viable target for the Premier League club. However, the English striker’s £100,000-a-week wages might pose a problem, although it is unclear if Bournemouth can afford to match his salary at Arsenal. The Cherries have also shown interest in other strikers, including Evanilson.
As for Nketiah, he has been keen on joining Marseille in the summer transfer window. However, with the Ligue 1 outfit closing in on signing Elye Wahi, a move within the Premier League might suit the 25-year-old best. It will be interesting to see if the Englishman leaves Arsenal to join Bournemouth.
