Brentford have struck a deal worth £20 million for the services of Liverpool attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Fabio Carvalho is all set to join Brentford ahead of the 2024/25 season. The Bees have reached a full agreement with Liverpool for the permanent transfer of the Portuguese attacking sensation.
Carvalho came up the ranks at Fulham and was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2021. An impressive debut campaign with their first team in the EFL Championship resulted in a move to Liverpool. While he was expected to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first team, the 21-year-old has not been able to live up to the expectations.
He spent the first half of last season out on loan at RB Leipzig, where he did not really have much of an impact. The Reds recalled him in the winter before once again loaning him out to Hull City, where he was involved in 20 matches and ended up contributing towards 11 goals.
While he did have an impressive loan spell at Hull last time out and even showcased great promise during the pre-season under new boss Arne Slot, the 21-year-old Portuguese was unlikely to get much game time in the 2024/25 season.
As a result, the Merseyside club have been open to negotiating his departure. While Southampton did knock on their doors for his services, their offer was not good enough to convince the Reds to sell the Klopp signing.
Brentford sign Fabio Carvalho
Brentford, who have been closely monitoring Fabio Carvalho’s situation at Anfield, recently made a move for his services, and they seem to have struck a deal with Liverpool.
The Bees have convinced the Reds about a permanent move, and they have reached a full agreement for his transfer. Slot’s team will receive £20 million as a fixed fee for the transfer along with add-ons as a part of the package.
Carvalho has already given the green light to the move as he is keen on playing regular first-team football. The 21-year-old is all set to undergo medical at his new club in the coming days before putting pen to paper to make the transfer official.
