Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to arrive at West Ham United for his medicals after the two clubs agreed on a deal for the full-back.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have an agreement in place to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United. The 26-year-old right-back is all set for his medical tests with the Hammers imminently as he puts pen to paper on a long-term deal at the London Stadium.
West Ham set to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka
West Ham have looked around for a new right-back in this window. They were keen to land Noussair Mazraoui and even had an agreement in place with Bayern Munich. Manchester United’s firm interest in the former Ajax star ensured the Hammers lost out on the Moroccan, who is now close to joining the Red Devils.
Manchester United held positive talks with Bayern to sign Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt and have since reached an agreement to do so. They need to make room in their squad for those additions and are willing to let go of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, which was always the plan in this window.
West Ham have since switched their attention, and despite reports of the deal stalling, they have now agreed a £15 million fee with Manchester United for the 26-year-old. Wan-Bissaka will arrive at the club to undergo his medical tests and then put pen to paper on a long-term deal.
Manchester United will sign Mazraoui only after Wan-Bissaka leaves in order to balance their act in the window. As for their right-back, he will become part of Julen Lopetegui’s side for the coming season and beyond, as the manager will hope the move gives the 26-year-old a new lease on his career.
West Ham’s summer spree
West Ham have had a fantastic transfer window so far and have made some notable additions to their squad. They have offloaded Kurt Zouma to Saudi Arabia while adding Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo to their central defence.
The arrival of Niclas Fullkrug and midfielder Guido Rodriguez also improves their depth in the central and forward areas. Adding Wan-Bissaka will give Lopetegui more options in his defence, as fans will hope this spending will propel them into challenging for a top four or top six places at the very least and make a return to European football.
