Real Madrid will not launch the offensive to sign 30-year-old Spanish international Aymeric Laporte from Al-Nassr in the summer transfer window.
According to reputed Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz, Aymeric Laporte is no longer the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The 30-year-old would prefer to return to Spain amid his desire to leave Al-Nassr in the summer transfer window. However, the reigning La Liga champions have ruled out a move for the UEFA Euro 2024 winner.
The Aymeric Laporte tale
Aymeric Laporte shocked many when he moved to the Saudi Pro League while still at his peak. The French-born defender grew in frustration in his final season at Manchester City after struggling to become an undisputed first-choice defender at the Etihad in the 2022/23 campaign.
The 30-year-old joined Al-Nassr last summer and immediately established himself as a pivotal figure for the Knights of Najd. Laporte has turned out 39 times thus far for the Saudi Pro League giants while chipping in with four goals and one assist. However, despite his impressive displays, all is not well between the two parties.
Recent reports have claimed that the Spanish international wants to leave Al-Nassr before the summer transfer window shuts down. An update earlier this month suggested that the UEFA Euro 2024 wants the Saudi Pro League outfit to terminate his contract. Laporte’s desired destination has been Real Madrid.
Will Laporte join Real Madrid?
Real Madrid can do with a player like Aymeric Laporte, even though he will likely be a short-term solution at the heart of the defence for Los Blancos. The reigning La Liga champions already have two centre-backs on the wrong side of 30, with David Alaba approaching the final phase of his glittering career.
However, Real Madrid will not launch the offensive to secure Aymeric Laporte’s services in the summer transfer window. While the 30-year-old Spanish international wants to return to Spain, the reigning La Liga champions have ruled out a summer move for him.
Meanwhile, a move to England will unlikely see the light of day due to issues regarding taxation. So, it will be interesting to see where the UEFA Euro 2024 lands in the summer transfer window as he looks to leave Al-Nassr.
