Real Madrid could consider a move for Diogo Dalot next summer, which could tempt the Manchester United full-back into considering his future.
According to Give Me Sport, Real Madrid could plot a move for Diogo Dalot next summer, which could significantly doubt the full-back’s Manchester United career. The reigning European champions are eager to upgrade their defence next year, which could see them consider a move for the Portugal international.
Real Madrid considers Diogo Dalot swoop
Diogo Dalot is one of the few players left from the Jose Mourinho era, having signed from FC Porto back in 2018 and has since established himself as a key starter. His performances prompted Manchester United to hand him a new £100,000-a-week contract last year, which does give them an edge should a rival come in for the full-back.
Incidentally, Real Madrid are considering making a move for Dalot in 2025, as they plan on upgrading their defensive ranks next summer. They are also linked with Cristian Romero from Tottenham for next summer and will eye Dalot as well to make the grade at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The idea here is to upgrade the right-back position, mainly because there are long-term doubts about Dani Carvajal’s future. Dalot could be seen as a competitor for the berth. However, Real Madrid are quietly working to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold on a Bosman deal next summer, as the Liverpool man is indeed their priority target.
Liverpool are confident of tying him down to a long-term deal, and if they do, then Real Madrid will look at alternatives such as the £100,000-a-week Manchester United mainstay. The Red Devils will not want to lose him, as manager Erik ten Hag considers him a key component of his squad as things stand.
Dalot could be tempted
Like many other players, Dalot could well be tempted by the prospect of playing for Real Madrid. For his sake, he will hope that Alexander-Arnold signs a new deal at Liverpool, which makes him one of the favourites as an alternative for Florentino Perez to consider. Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking to bring Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt, with the former likely to threaten Dalot’s place.
Hence, Dalot could have multiple reasons to leave Manchester United next summer, especially if Ten Hag makes Mazraoui his No.1 choice for the right-back slot this season and reduces the Portugese’s minutes. However, Real Madrid’s interest could be a significant factor regardless of any other situation, meaning a switch to Bernabeu could well tempt the current Red Devils right-back.
