Crystal Palace could open contract talks with Eberechi Eze amid exit links

Crystal Palace might open talks with Eberechi Eze over a new contract to ward off growing interest from Premier League rivals.

According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace are keen on opening talks with Eberechi Eze over a new deal as they might lean towards keeping the attacker. Losing him alongside a few others will be a blow for the Eagles, as they could offer the chance to keep him amid interest from Liverpool and Tottenham.

Crystal Palace to offer Eberechi Eze a new contract?

There is a lot of activity around Crystal Palace, and it could get worse for the team as the window progresses. With Michael Olise already departing for Bayern Munich, key defender Marc Guehi is close to joining Newcastle United.

There are visible links to the likes of Adam Wharton, while Jean-Phillipe Mateta is linked with Aston Villa, as per the latest reports. Losing them all would be a significant blow to Oliver Glasner’s plans, with Eberechi Eze also in the spotlight amid growing interest from Premier League rivals.

Eze’s current deal has a reported £60 million plus add-ons clause that clubs can trigger and take him away. However, Crystal Palace are eager to keep him on board and could open talks over a new contract with the English playmaker.

The chances of him staying are unknown, as Palace are not in control if an interested side triggers his release clause. Should Eze sign a new deal, the Eagles could potentially increase that sum in his deal or abolish it altogether, as he might also be thinking of a new challenge at a club capable of challenging for honours.

Tottenham Liverpool linked with Eze

Eberechi Eze and his family have close ties with Tottenham, as the North Londoners have made contact with his camp over a potential move. It could be a late splurge to sign the £60 million-plus-rated playmaker as a move there is quite the possibility. Spurs remain keen on signing him, although they face competition from Liverpool as things stand.

Liverpool were planning on an approach for Eze, although as things stand, they might be prioritising other moves in different positions. A holding midfielder remains a priority for Arne Slot, as they could also move for a wide forward, as this is a role they could potentially envisage Eze taking up if the conditions are right.
