Liverpool set asking price for Fabio Carvalho, Southampton poised to make new bid

Liverpool are looking for around €30 million to sell Fabio Carvalho, and Southampton are poised to table an improved offer.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Liverpool are willing to part ways with Fabio Carvalho. While the Portuguese forward has had an impressive pre-season so far, the Reds are ready to sell him as long as their demands have been met.

Southampton are the ones who are quite keen on signing him. The Merseyside club have already rejected a bid from their end but the Saints retain their interest in the 21-year-old and according to a report from Football Insider, they are all set to table a revised offer in the coming days.

Liverpool ready to sell Carvalho

Carvalho joined the Reds back in the summer of 2022 after coming up the ranks and making a name for himself at Fulham. Unfortunately, the move to Liverpool hasn’t really worked out for the Portuguese youth international as he has only featured in a handful of games for their first team.

He spent the first half of last season at RB Leipzig where he hardly got any game time. But, a spell at Hull City during the second half of the season did do him a lot of good. Carvalho has carried the form into the pre-season and he has managed to impress Arne Slot.

But, given the number of top-quality attackers the Dutch manager has at his disposal, the Portuguese attacking midfielder is unlikely to get much games. While he still has three years left on his deal, the Reds are ready to cash in on him. They are looking for around €25/€30 million (£21.5-£25.8m) to part ways with the former Fulham star.

The Saints to return with an improved offer for Carvalho

Southampton are keen on signing Carvalho ahead of next season as they look to reinforce their attack before their return to the Premier League. They did table a bid worth €17.5 million (£15m) for his services but it was turned down by Liverpool.

The Saints haven’t given up yet and they are preparing to return with an improved offer. They are looking to submit a bid worth around £20 million plus add-ons (€24m). With the offer being very close to the Reds’ asking price, Russell Martin’s team are hoping they get the green light to move ahead with the deal.
