Liverpool are keen on signing Valencia’s 23-year-old shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili after his impressive performances at Euro 2024.
According to a report from COPE Valencia, Liverpool are interested in the services of Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Reds are on the lookout for a goalkeeper who can help them in the long run and Valencia’s shot-stopper seems to fit the bill.
Mamardashvili came up the ranks at Dinamo Tbilisi before joining the Spanish club on a short loan spell during the summer of 2021. The move was made permanent six months down the line, and the 23-year-old has not looked back since.
He is already a mainstay in goal for Valencia and recently did wonders for Georgia at Euro 2024. He put in an exceptional performance in their final game against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal helping his nation make it to the round of 16.
On the back of his performances, multiple top clubs want to sign him and Liverpool are one of them. While Mamardashvili still has three years left on his current contract and he is back at the club for pre-season, his future is still not certain. He reportedly wants to make a move to the Premier League, and Valencia are open to sanctioning his departure for a fee of around €35-40 million.

Liverpool are leading Premier League interest in the 23-year-old. The Reds have identified him as an ideal long-term replacement for Alisson Becker, who has been linked with a move to the Middle East. Both players share the same agent, which could significantly help the Merseyside club in their pursuit.
While Liverpool are keen on his signature, and even the player wants to make the move to Anfield, he will only leave Valencia in a situation where he has an offer to be a number one at a top European club. If Becker does end up continuing at the club, the Reds could even look to sign him and then loan him out to ensure he gets regular first-team action.
Meanwhile, the Premier League outfit could face competition from Atletico Madrid who are also looking for a goalkeeper who can replace Jan Oblak in the long run. Their number one has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, if he does leave, Diego Simeone’s team could make things difficult for Liverpool.
