Aaron Wan-Bissaka is reprortedly demanding a substantial payoff from Manchester United to finalise a move to West Ham United.
According to a report from The Sun, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is open to joining West Ham United but he is looking for a huge payoff from Manchester United to seal the move before the end of the transfer window. While the Hammers have agreed terms with United for his transfer, the player’s lofty wage demands along with the playoff are making things difficult.
Wan-Bissaka made the move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2019 after making a name for himself at Crystal Palace. While he did have a decent start to life at Manchester United, he has not really been a consistent performer and has been in and out of the team.
While he was not really an important part of Erik ten Hag’s plans last season, the 26-year-old still finished with 30 appearances thanks to an injury crisis at the back. With his contract running out in 2025, United are looking to cash in on him. They do not want to lose out on him for free in 12 months.
They have already identified Noussair Mazraoui as an ideal replacement and have been working on a deal to sign him from Bayern Munich. While the former Ajax player is close to joining Manchester United, Wan-Bissaka’s future remains uncertain.
Wan-Bissaka wants a payoff to leave United
West Ham United are keen on signing the 26-year-old as they look to strengthen the right side of their defence. While they have agreed a £18 million deal with the Red Devils for the transfer of the former Crystal Palace star, Wan-Bissaka is demanding a payoff from United to leave the club.
The English full-back is open to joining West Ham, but he is not eager to leave Old Trafford. With just 12 months left on his deal, he is aware that he could bag a huge signing fee by staying put and leaving as a free agent next summer. As a result, his representatives are pushing United to give the player a part of the £18 million fee that they will receive from the Hammers if the move goes through.
Even if the Red Devils do agree to pay him a part of the fee, his wages are also a headache for the Hammers. He has been on £90,000-a-week wages since joining Manchester United and is determined to secure an increase offered this time around which is beyond West Ham’s reach.
