Newcastle United confident Anthony Gordon will not leave amid Liverpool links

Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Liverpool are keen on signing the 22-year-old winger but a report from Give Me Sport claims that Newcastle are convinced that they will be able to hold on to him.

The winger is valued at £75 million and it seems highly unlikely that Liverpool will pay that kind of money for him.

While there is no doubt that Gordon is a talented player with huge potential, he has done nothing to justify the £75 million price tag yet. He has been a key player for Newcastle since joining the club from Everton. The England international scored 12 goals and picked up 11 assists in all competitions last season and he could transform Liverpool in the final third.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are the only natural wingers at the club and Liverpool need more quality in the wide areas. It will be interesting to see if they you decide to move for other wingers this summer.

It seems that they will be priced out of a move for the Newcastle star.

Anthony Gordon will fancy Liverpool move

Meanwhile, the boyhood Liverpool player will be keen on returning to the club and he will hope that the two parties can finalise an agreement soon. A move to Liverpool will be an exciting opportunity for him and he would get to compete in the Champions League with them.

Gordon would get to compete for major trophies with Liverpool as well. They have a talented squad at their disposal and they have appointed and exciting coach like Arne Slot. It will be interesting to see if the Dutch manager can help them compete with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City next season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle will look to push for European qualification as well. They have an ambitious project and they will look challenge for major trophies in the coming seasons. They cannot hope to achieve that by selling their best players and therefore they must do everything in their power to keep Gordon at the club. They do not need to raise funds by selling their best players and Liverpool will have to pay a premium in order to get the deal done.
