Liverpool keen on Julio Soler

Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Argentine defensive sensation Julio Soler before the end of the transfer window.

According to a report from The Sun, Liverpool are keen on signing Argentine youth international Julio Soler. The Reds see him as an ideal long-term replacement for Andy Robertson and they have taken the first step towards bringing him to Anfield.

Soler has been doing wonders for both club and country. The 19-year-old full-back has come up the ranks at Lanús and was promoted to their first team last summer. He already has 36 appearances for their first team. He had an impressive run in his debut season and the youngster carried his form into the Olympic Games.

His performances at the global stage haven’t gone unnoticed and multiple top clubs have been monitoring him. While he still has two years left on his deal with the South American club, a departure this summer looks almost certain.

Liverpool enquire about Julio Soler

Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on signing the teenager and they watched him closely during the Olympic Games. They are impressed with his performances and consider him to be an ideal fit for their system as he is naturally attacking left-back.

The Reds see him as a long-term replacement for Andy Roberton. While the Scottish skipper remains the preferred left-back at the club, he is 30 and they do need to prepare for the future. As a result, they want to bring Soler in as a backup. He could eventually grow and be the preferred choice.

After watching him play for Argentina, they have already contacted his club back home to learn more about a potential transfer. Lanus are looking for around £13 million for the teenager who has the potential to be a special player. The price tag doesn’t seem to be a problem for the Reds but convincing the youngster about a move to Anfield knowing that he won’t be getting much game time could be a bit tricky.

The asking price of just £13 million surely seems to be a bargain given the kind of potential the youngster has. With multiple top clubs interested, the Reds will have to be quick if they want to avoid competition.
