Real Madrid are stealthily pursuing a Bosman move for 25-year-old Liverpool defensive mainstay Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Real Madrid have done some exceptional transfer business over the past few seasons. They have brought in some of the best young talents in the world of football and have also signed some of the best players on a free transfer with Kylian Mbappe being the most recent example. Los Blancos now have their eyes set on Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Now, according to a report from AS, the Spanish giants are quietly working on a free transfer for the Liverpool academy graduate. The Englishman has entered the final 12 months of his contract and can start talking to foreign clubs on a pre-contract agreement in January.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2016, he and has played a big part in all the success they had during Jurgen Klopp’s time at Anfield. The 25-year-old is considered to be one of the central figures of the Merseyside club. But his future at the club is uncertain, as his current contract runs out in 2025.
While he seems to have committed himself to Liverpool for at least another season, with a new contract not yet penned, his long-term future remains in question. The Reds do not want to lose out on him. But in six months’ time, things might be beyond their control as he will be free to sign a pre-contract with a club from overseas.
Real Madrid to sign Alexander-Arnold for free?
Real Madrid have been linked with the Liverpool mainstay throughout the summer. While reports suggested that they could make a move for him before the end of the window, Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear they won’t be making any more signings in this window.
However, they remain interested in the services of Alexander-Arnold. While Dani Carvajal still seems to be at the peak of his powers, he is already 32, and Lucas Vazquez is also unlikely to be around for long. As a result, Los Blancos do need a right-back for the long run, and the English international could just be the best replacement for them.
They are secretly working on a Bosman move to bring Alexander-Arnold to Madrid next summer and their superstar Jude Bellingham could help their cause. The Englishman is currently on holiday with the Liverpool mainstay. The two share an exceptional bond, and it could benefit Real Madrid, who are looking to sign on a free transfer.
