Newcastle United have reached an agreement with Sheffield United for their forward William Osula, who will arrive in a £15 million deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United have a deal in place for William Osula to join the club from Sheffield United. The Magpies will pay £10 million plus an additional £5 million in add-ons, as the 20-year-old prospect’s arrival could then put the future of Callum Wilson in significant doubt.
Newcastle United to sign William Osula
Newcastle United fans had been hoping for a big-name arrival this summer, but it has not been forthcoming. They had been in the market for players in multiple positions. However, their business has been focused on outgoings, with Lloyd Kelly and Odysseas Vlachodimos being the only arrivals.
Eddie Howe also wants to add to his attacking setup, with a few departures expected in that area. While a potential Anthony Gordon saga will dominate their summer, the manager will hope to keep him and Alexander Isak in his ranks while adding another striker and winger, with Noni Madueke linked.
They are also set to sell Miguel Almiron and could see a winger come in, with Nicolas Gonzalez also linked. Meanwhile, they are also expected to offload Callum Wilson, with the forward into his final year. As a potential replacement, they have agreed on a deal with Sheffield United for their young striker William Osula. The 20-year-old prospect has yet to prove his worth, but the Magpies are confident of his talent.
Newcastle United have agreed to a £10 million deal with an additional £5 million in add-ons, as Sheffield United wanted to keep him. However, the offer seems good enough to tempt the Blades into a sale, as Osula is expected to play a part in Howe’s squad for the upcoming season. He also played 21 Premier League games last season but failed to score a single goal or register an assist during that period.
Will Newcastle United sign another striker after the Osula deal?
Howe may view Osula as a bit-part player and aid his development to become a future star. However, that may not mean he is the direct backup to Isak in the setup, as Newcastle United might need another centre-forward to properly replace West Ham-linked Wilson.
Boulaye Dia remains a target, as more names could come into the equation in the coming period. It appears that Howe might target another centre-forward should it suit the club’s finances and ability to offload Wilson in this window.
